Aavakaiku will present Sound Images (2) at Arthouse Cinema Niagara on Wednesday 29 May at 19.00

The performance will feature the band's video artwork, for which Aavakaiku will improvise a live soundscape. The abstract video work is accompanied by saxophones and electronic equipment. The soundscape is shaped by various effects, creating a meditative and sensual atmosphere in the cinema hall.

Sound Images (2) premiered for the second time in September 2023 at the Laiku Music Hall. It is a continuation of Turka's sound art performance Äänikuvia (Sound Images), which was presented in November 2021.

Aavakaiku is a band performing improvised sound art with electronic and acoustic instruments. The duo combines expressive, surprising and atmospheric elements, playing with different sounds and tunes. The performances are experiential and unique, as the sonic journey is created in the moment, with no predetermined direction.

Mari and Turkka are experienced sound artists who perform and work with music and sound engineering. Mari is an ethnomusicologist and freelance musician who contributes to several ensembles as a live and studio musician, playing saxophones and flutes as her main instruments. Turkka is a professional sound artist, working as a sound designer and composer for TV productions and producing sound art performances as a solo artist and for Suhina Kollective.
